By wind, rain of the day against the walls, but generally this does not affect the construction, because the plaster is covered with the time of an impermeable layer of soot and dirt, but sometimes, however, the walls more exposed to the elements are penetrated by moisture because of bad bricks or plaster bad composition.
As none of these causes can be corrected later, the only remedy is to apply a waterproof paint, clear or colored on the outside. These paintings are usually made on the basis of fluates, and produce the silicification or saponification of the wall surface, but without clogging the pores, so that although the rainwater does not penetrate into the plaster, the moisture from the interior can pass through easily.
Most often the walls are wet because they are too thin and they need space to absorb external water and allow evaporation without reaching the interior.
Water and humidity can also enter the building through a crack as yet undiscovered in the plaster of the facade, or the doors and windows. In the latter case, the greater danger lies in the joints of the frames with masonry or plaster, which is inevitable cracking due to movement of the wood. These cracks can be closed reliably with elastic filler.
But often the water is filtered through the cracks of the windows closed, because the drain in the bottom frame is covered with paint and does not fulfill on its function. An effective remedy is to apply under the window, under the sheet, a protective metal conduit to prevent entry of water.
